Elmbridge Drama Festival celebrated its 50th Anniversary Year in 2011 and a Golden Gala reception was held on the final night, Saturday 5th March. The occasion was tinged with sadness at the absence of three of it's long serving key members - Richard Davis and Margaret and John Watford owing to ill health, although Richard did manage to make a brief and welcome appearance at the Gala Reception.
In the usual format, the adjudicator, Jan Palmer Sayer, recalled three plays for the final night's entertainment. Runnymede's White Lies, by Richard James and directed by Nancy Usher, performed first, then Walton's Monkey Theatre (a youth group whose mimed performance was ineligible for any awards but nevertheless gave great entertainment) and Woking College's production of Pool (No Water) by Mark Ravenhill.
